Priorities 2009
Four Pillars Of Masonic Formation
In 2009/2010 the District 124 Masonic Education Program will be focusing on Four Pillars of Masonic Formation
Imagine that four large candlesticks are placed in the four corners of the mosaic pavement. In the centre is the Blazing Star, a place where the ideal Freemason stands. Looking at the four corners of the mosaic pavement you are now taught that these candlesticks are emblematic of educational illumination representing:
- Personal Growth
- Spiritual Growth
- Intellectual Growth
- Community Growth
We want to assist you to become a well-grounded Freemason by providing you with assistance in these four areas. It is also a time for personal reflection and self-examination, to reassess what areas of masonic formation you should focus on in 2009.
Three educational streams will be available. They are Discovery, Deepening and Applying.
- Discovery – Becoming aware of of something new or not previously known;
- Deepening – Becoming aware of relations and new links or connections associated with Discovery;
- Applying – Forming a plan and implementing the discovered knowledge practically, applying the knowledge concretely in some form each day or modifying habits.
Freemasonry is a progressive science. Depending on how you absorb the philosophy of Freemasonry, and build upon your Masonic experience will assist you in determining which education stream is right for you.
There will be plenty of opportunities to share, articulate and interpret these areas with other Freemasons along with being provided a valuable and powerful opportunity to hear others interpret the same information.
Ask your Lodge Education Officer for the new 2009 Masonic Formation Connections brochure.
